Immigration Postcards

This project was part of a semester-long look at a controversial topic, illegal immigration. For this project, I had to look at my topic through the “lens” of different kinds of people. By experiencing the feelings, thoughts and experiences of these archetypes, I could better understand my topic, and gain further insight on this controversial issue.

I had to choose 10 archetypes and create several cards, using photography and typography, and create a dialogue based on the viewpoints of those 10 people, places or things.
I created 10 postcards as well as housing for them. I chose the format of a postcard, since while doing research on the topic, I found a different way to look at the issue.
I thought that a traveling tone would best fit. I designed some postcards and a really cool box that reminded me of something a collector would put postcards in (since it was a collection of views). I think that this project has a strong visual theme that accomplished what I was trying to do with the topic.
